Darrin was born and raised in San Leandro Ca and competed in many sports as a youngster mainly focusing on soccer & Martial Arts (Bok-Fu, Jujitsu and Muy Tai Kickboxing), even competing in kickboxing tournaments. In his early teens he began working in Bicycle shops and started racing Bicycles in Cat 4 & 3 classifications, this is also when he first became fascinated with sports nutrition and how diet could improve performance and weight training. At San Leandro High School he focused on Wrestling and power lifting even competing in one power lifting competition. 2 years after graduating high school he started working for United Airlines all the while reading everything he could about sports nutrition and cycling as he continued to work on & race bikes part time. In 2000 after working for 11 years at United Airlines Maintenance base in San Bruno, Darrin returned to school for a second career as a sports dietitian. He spent 1 year at Ohlone College in Fremont before transferring to San Jose State where he earned his B.S. in Nutrition & Food Science with a concentration in Dietetics, graduating in May 2004. In 2005 he returned to school completing a Graduate Certificate in dietetics through a clinical dietetic internship at St. Rose Hospital in Hayward Ca.

Darrin works closely with strength and conditioning coaches, personal trainers and individuals to design and implement safe, effective and easy to apply nutritional strategies using a time tested 3 step system utilizing the Fueling-tactics poster and concepts to help individuals, teams and coaches properly fuel their bodies and understand the role of food as fuel relative to activity.
